APP Engineering releases APP-501 Recorder™. The APP-501 is a multifunction recorder containing any number analog inputs, digital inputs, and status outputs. The system features high speed, slow speed, continuous, and trend recording capabilities. Vice-President and senior design engineering Wing-Kin Wai, PhD. says, "the 501 is one of the most advanced, robust recorders on the market. It performed flawlessly under independent laboratory testing of the IEEE and IEC electrical fast transient and damped oscillatory standards." The APP-501 Recorder™ was designed to meet recording needs in power transmission, power distribution, and power generating areas. When coupled with APP ClearView™, a master station software package and COMTRADE viewer, it provides a powerful platform for acquisition, analysis, and reporting.
The APP-501 lends its itself useful to other industrial applications due to its wide voltage input range, current input range, digital input range, status output capability, and various recording speeds.

APP Engineering will releases two types of current transformers. The APP-00027 is a close pin or split core style current probe that allows for a none intrusive measurement and the APP-00028 is donut style closed loop torroid. Either style current transformer can be used with the APP-501 Recorder instead of the built in current shunts. These CT's can also be used for other applications such as watt-hour meters, sub-metering, and power monitoring.
